When you create a new event log feed it defaults to the "real time" event gathering method, making Poll Now redundant. You can change to the polling method either during feed creation (in the event log wizard), or after creation via the Event log page of the feed properties (double-click the feed in the left hand-pane, switch to the Event Log page). Once the polling method is being used, Poll Now is enabled.

Note: Poll Now can also be disabled when the feed itself is disabled. Please ensure there is a is tick in the box next to the feed in the left hand pane.
